Eta Nu Colony
Alumni Development
Colony produces and distributes alumni newsletters each academic year, at least once every four months, in paper and electronic formats.

In the fall the colony created a newsletter in conjunction with the alumni. It was a first attempt at making a newsletter to reach out to the alumni. The alumni base is widely supportive of the colony. They have actively reached out to help with any resources that have been needed. The alumni were a big help in the compalation of contact information.

Colony sponsors two alumni events each year.

Alumni BBQ Event:
Before the start of the semester, the colony hosted a back to school alumni barbecue. This was the first chances for all of the alumni to meet the candidates. Before the barbecue only the alumni who were in contact with the candidates were the Alumni Advisory Board. The barbecue was a major success. The cadidates were able to interact with the alumni in a one on one enviroment. The alumni shared stories about the past, and gave us advice on what to do, and how to go about doing it.

Football Tailgates
Throughout football season, the colony hosted tailgates for every home game. We had a specific tailgate spot that was given to us by an alumni. We had another alumni donate a tent for us to use. The tailgates were a huge success with many of the alumni comming through our tent to stop by to visit while at the same time meeting the members of the colony and learning about the rechartering process.

Monthly Alumni Social
Starting in the beginning of Spring 2011, the AAB began hosting monthly alumni socials at a local restaurant. The establishment is owned by a Eta Nu alum and brought out many alumni from older and younger generations. These monthly socials are intended to give alumni the opportunity to socialize with one another, while meeting members of the colony as well as learn about the rechartering process. The AAB is also using these socials to establish a base for the creation of an Alumni chapter in the Lafayette area.

UL Football Spring Game Crawfish Boil
This year has been exciting year for the Ragin' Cajun football team. With a new coach and staff this year's team, fans, and university have been rejuvenated with Ragin' Cajun pride. To celebrate this success and spread the excitement, the colony hosted a crawfish boil. The colony invited all Eta Nu alumni, candidates, and family members to a crawfish boil before the annual Spring Football game.
Colony has at least one active alumni chapter for chapter alumni.
The Lafayette area has yet to establish an active alumni chapter in the area. However because of the colony's creation, alumni have begun talking with one another to set up an active alumni chapter. The AAB is currently hosting monthly socials for alumni to come and learn about the rechartering process as well as express interest in being a part of an alumni chapter in the Lafayette area.
Colony utilizes alumni as guest facilitators for the LEAD Program on an annual basis.

Brotherhood Retreat Event
The colony is consistently utilizing alumni to serve as guest facilitators during LEAD programs. At a past brotherhood retreat, certain alumni (including members from the AAB) were asked to serve as facilitators to help with some of the programs. The programs they worked closely with helped us as a colony grow closer together and learn from each other. They also educate us on the history of the Eta Nu chapter as well as the history of Sigma Nu.

Colony shares a list of alumni and their contact information from their college or university on an annual basis.
Through the help of the alumni and the Alumni Advisory Board we were able to construct a contact list of a large number of the alumni. The list constantly grows as more and more of the alumni are joining in to help out.

Colony promotes interaction between alumni through a social networking group.
Facebook Pages
The colony created a Facebook page to share information as much information as possible with all the alumni. We want alumni to be able to receive information about the colony whenever they want, because of this demand our colony is constantly updating it's mode of information exchange and adapting to the rapidly changing times times.

Colony communicates regularly with alumni through e-mail updates.

Constant communication between colony members and alumni are important to keeping alumni updated with the status of the colony. In addition to the regular emails and phone conversations, the colony's alumni advisor and AAB chair attend the weekly colony meetings. This allows them to interact with the colony, keep updated with our status, and assist us in any situation we may have.

Colony keeps alumni updated on the Colony through a Colony web site.

The colony website is something that is constantly growing and expanding. Over the summer and during the beginning of the fall, there was a massive campaign to get alumni to register with the ulsigma.com site. This campaign still continues on a regular bases and new techniques are being used to try and incorporate and engage alumni to the website as much as possible.
The newest project undertaken by the Alumni Relations Chairman is to create a database to which alumni can trace back their linage through out the history of Eta Nu through their big brothers. The goal is to create a huge family tree and see how far back each line goes.
